Dreaming of a little cottage in the countryside is something I do most of the time. I would be happy living surrounded by rose bushes and hydrangeas outside my window, listening to the apples fall in the autumn, warming myself by a cozy fireplace in the winter, and stepping into the yard to hear the rain.
Having my tiny home amidst nature and tranquility has always been my ultimate goal in life. I love the place where I live now. I have fluffy sofas, cute dishes, and a wonderful yard, but I live in the city center.
I write so much on my blog about truly quiet places, but as I type, I hear the noise of cars, the conversations of passersby under the windows, and the howls of city dogs.
But in truth, I’m lucky because my street is green, with lots of flowers and trees. I live on the ground floor, where the windows open right into the yard. Early in the morning, it’s very quiet here, and you can hear the birds singing, but then the bustle starts, and the world fully awakens. Sometimes I like to lie in the morning stillness and imagine that I live in the countryside.
All my aspirations in life are towards seclusion and the possibility of living amidst fresh air and plenty of picnic spots. I believe that the more I write about this, the more likely it will happen one day. Perhaps someday I’ll be able to acquire an old cottage that my husband and I could remodel the way we want.
Even now, we have folders filled with inspiring photos of how we want every corner of our house to look. And my Pinterest is overflowing with ideas for our future home, garden, and various interiors. Everything I like goes there.
I would love to have a small piece of land where, in addition to the main house, I could have a summer house where I could work. And in the main house, we would organize the interior in soft pastel shades. I would be so happy if the dream of a little cottage someday came true. I think most people around the world dream of having their own home in a quiet place.
Today, I posted here photos from the Dutch village of Giethoorn, the most beautiful village of its kind on the planet, and in a way, it’s my ideal vision of where I’d like to live.
I love planning. I once only planned a trip to Giethoorn, and I made it there. Now I’m planning to have my own home. Planning keeps the dream alive. And one day, this dream will become reality, and I’m already ready for it!
