Hello, my darlings! Recently, I finished watching a series where one of the characters was a witch. I liked this character because her image wasn’t straightforward. She didn’t wear a witch’s hat or brew love potions in a cauldron. However, she had qualities and skills that weren’t available to everyone, which made her stand out. This got me thinking about how one could develop such qualities. You don’t have to be a hereditary witch in the tenth generation, know spells by heart, or look intimidating to perceive the world and yourself more subtly. I realized that some activities can help you get closer to yourself, feel your true nature, and find ways to interact with the world around you. Here, I want to share these hobbies for little witches.

This list might inspire new beginnings for you. It is, of course, not exhaustive and will not make you a witch or stop making you one if you don’t do any of them. Everything is in your hands!

Hobbies for little witches.

Soap making: You can collect plants from your garden, getting closer to nature.

Candle making: You can also decorate candles with herbs and flowers, and use them to cleanse the energy in a room.

Gardening: Grow flowers and herbs. If you have a garden, you have the chance to turn it into a real fairy tale. If your mom has a garden, ask her to set aside a small section for you where you can bring all your ideas to life. In an urban setting, you can use a windowsill. Spicy herbs for tea and salads, delicate flowers that will delight you with a pleasant smell and just a lot of tiny green friends that will give you oxygen and a pleasant mood.

Herbarium: Start a big book for a herbarium. Write down the properties and names of the various plants you collect during your walks. You can also collect specimens from different countries and continents to flip through and admire the dried pieces of nature.

Handmade jewelry: Create wooden jewelry from fallen trees. Perhaps you can use epoxy resin. You can give nature a second life, more eternal and beautiful. It’s a fantastic idea!

Studying mythology: Dive deeply into a fascinating culture. Watch documentaries on the traditions of different peoples, read various books, travel to the country or city. It’s great to know something unique that many others don’t. Traditions, customs, rituals, cuisine, art, films of a culture are all very interesting. If you’re as interested in Celtic culture as I am, you can read my recent post about celebrating Lughnasadh.

Collecting stones and minerals: This hobby is especially suitable for little witches who live in the mountains. Search for and study stones, and collect them. This can also include a passion for studying ammonites and everything that the ocean floor holds. It’s beautiful when your home is decorated with shells of all colors and sizes. It’s magical!

Embroidery: A wonderful activity is embroidering plants from botanical books. Besides the embroidery itself, you can simultaneously study their properties. Even a little mushroom on a backpack or a frog on a laptop case can lift your mood! This activity is very calming.

Weaving amulets and dreamcatchers: Add beads, feathers, various beads, and minerals to your creations. If you’re passionate about a particular culture, you can incorporate elements from it into your dreamcatcher. For example, if it’s something northern, you can add runes. This helps you feel your passion more deeply and, in turn, better understand yourself.

Beading: I would like to dedicate a separate item for this hobby for little witches. Weave amulets, bracelets, talismans and sigils. And I’m not talking about the fact that you can just delight yourself by weaving earrings with ladybugs or a brooch with gentian.

Knitting: Oh, this is just the perfect meditation. You can free up time to be alone with yourself and your thoughts. Thinking, relaxing and the bonus is that you get a wonderful piece to decorate or warm you.

Collecting: Collect whatever your heart desires. Be it a herbarium, as mentioned earlier, fox figurines from different countries, postcards, or even stamps. Personally, I like the idea of collecting antique postcards, and I’ve been collecting them for many years, bringing them from different corners of the world. I also love minerals and ammonites.

Astronomy: Imagine having a huge star map on your wall, your phone filled with apps like “Star Walk” and “Moon Phases,” reading the legend of Cassiopeia, and waiting for the weekend to go camping and look at the stars, searching for constellations. And someday, you’ll have a telescope. A dream!
