The most amazing thing was that the wedding in Cyprus was not planned at all, and we were going to do everything completely differently. Three months before the wedding, we thought a lot about how to celebrate this day. Since my husband and I are from different cities, it was not easy to choose a location, transport all the guests… there were many options to consider. We brainstormed on how to make everyone happy and make this day memorable for us. So, how to plan a wedding in Cyprus.
But the most surprising thing was that, although we had found a venue for our celebration, compiled guest lists, even thought about the bouquet and festive dinner, the marriage registration had not been filed yet. By chance, the idea came to both of us: “Why don’t we get married in another country?” Since we love to travel, and the country of Cyprus itself seemed very symbolic to us.
How we planned the wedding in Cyprus.
Imagining how the event could unfold abroad, we turned to a wedding agency that specializes in organizing wedding journeys around the world. They did all the work for us, and all we had to do was buy wedding outfits. Since the wedding was planned for early October, we had to decide on the country where the official ceremony would take place. Specifically, an official ceremony, not a symbolic one.
We didn’t want to travel far, but we wanted to swim in the sea, lie under palm trees, and drink cocktails. The choices were not many… where else is it warm in autumn? And where do they officially conduct ceremonies? Spain, Greece, Turkey, and Cyprus. We chose Cyprus.
And we chose the location for our wedding – Nissi Beach Hotel. Click here to learn more about Nissi Beach Hotel. In addition to the location, we chose a restaurant, a photographer, designed a bouquet, and booked flights for us and our relatives.
The wedding agency’s services also included:
Venue rental for the ceremony,
Official registrar at the ceremony from the Ayia Napa municipality,
Personal wedding coordinator,
Bridal bouquet,
Boutonnieres for the groom and witness,
Single-tier wedding cake and a bottle of local champagne,
Gifts from the company (a wonderful guide to Cyprus),
Silver photo shooting package (we extended it for an additional fee),
Car rental during the wedding,
Transfer from the hotel to the municipality and back,
Individual transfer from the airport to the hotel in a representative-class car,
Preparation of documents before and after the wedding (including obtaining certificates of freedom, registering documents with the municipality, legalizing the marriage certificate for Russia, municipal fees),
The entire administrative process of wedding preparation and execution (visits with the wedding coordinator to the stylist, cosmetologist, hairdresser, flower salon for choosing and designing the bouquet and decorations, to the municipality to file the marriage registration application, to the Ministry of Justice to obtain an apostille),
Medical insurance.
After signing the contract, we started collecting documents. Puffing away, with my hair flying back, I managed to gather the complete package within a week, so as not to prolong this not very pleasant process.
Our wedding ceremony took place at Nissi Beach Hotel, where we stayed during our entire trip to Cyprus. What’s great about a wedding at Nissi Beach Hotel?
Firstly, the newlyweds are allocated special apartments with a view of the blooming garden and the azure sea.
Secondly, weddings here follow one after another, and the organization of the celebration is so well-established that mistakes are simply excluded.
Thirdly, there is a stunning territory with green gardens and the blue sea everywhere. Not only newlyweds come here for photo sessions, but also tourists from the entire island.
Fourth, it’s just convenient. You don’t need to go anywhere, and that’s so important on such a responsible and exciting day.

How was it?
Just 5 minutes before the ceremony, they handed me the bridal bouquet. I didn’t know in advance how it would look; they simply asked me about the style and flowers I wanted. My bouquet was quite simple but very delicate, with white roses, and it was lightweight!
All the guests were already in the marquee, and I was the only one still fussing in front of the mirror, securing the last hairpin in my updo. When the final touch was done, I walked towards my husband.
Approaching the marquee, I noticed he had his back turned. I had been warned in advance to watch his expression when he turned around. As he turned, his eyes widened, and his jaw dropped. I burst into laughter, and the slight nervousness disappeared instantly.
After exchanging solemn vows, we spent the whole day exploring the surroundings of Ayia Napa. Our day was filled with adventures: exploring numerous caves, witnessing the sunset, and celebrating with a festive dinner at the romantic restaurant “Castelli.” Our photographer stayed with us until the end. Oh, how tired we were! The sharp rocks and limestone caves were not an easy choice for a photoshoot.

On that day, I felt like a queen, as everyone looked at you with joyful eyes. Whether entering a restaurant for a festive dinner or a hotel to freshen up, everyone applauded and congratulated you… complete strangers. We were so delighted when walking through the city; everyone waved, and standing on the lovers’ bridge, tourists on a ship shouted and whistled loudly.
We became husband and wife on the most romantic island in the world, where everything is infused with love and tenderness. We are incredibly happy that we embarked on this adventure. This journey is not just to a small island bathed by the Mediterranean Sea but, more importantly, an adventure that began with the desire to be with the one you love for a lifetime.
