Lilacs in her hands. She will choose the juiciest branch of lilac in the forest, put it in a small basket, and run deep into the dense thicket. Her golden curls will spill down her back, and sparrows will follow her when she sings to the stars.

Lilacs in her hands

She will decorate her forest home with lilacs and weave petals into her hair. The flower-scented steam will curl into the evening air, mingling with the soft rustle of leaves and the distant call of an owl. She will pour purple tea for hedgehogs and foxes and tell them a wonderful tale about the long past, which people have forgotten, which only tall wild grasses remember.

The tale speaks of a time when lilacs bloomed year-round, their fragrance guiding lost travelers to safety, and the flowering trees were guardians of ancient wisdom. The flowers were believed to be the spirits of forest maidens who once danced under the moonlight, their laughter echoing through the woods, bringing joy to all who heard it. As she recounts the story, the lilacs in her hands seem to glow with a soft light, as if remembering their own part in the ancient legend.

When the tale is done, she sits beneath the lilac trees, their branches heavy with blossoms, casting dappled shadows on the forest floor. There, in the cool shade, she breathes in the heady aroma, feeling it fill her lungs with the essence of the earth. She gathers the fallen petals, each one a piece of the forest’s heart, and places them gently in her basket, knowing they carry with them the magic of the old ways.

Lilacs in her hands

In folklore, lilacs are often seen as symbols of protection and renewal. It is said that planting lilacs near one’s home would keep evil spirits at bay, their fragrance too pure and powerful for any darkness to endure. In other tales, lilacs were believed to bring love and happiness, their blooms a sign of new beginnings and the promise of a bright future.

As she sits there, surrounded by the lilacs’ gentle presence, she feels a deep sense of peace. The forest, with all its mysteries and stories, is her home, and the lilacs in her hands are a reminder of the ancient magic that still lingers in the air, waiting to be discovered by those who take the time to listen to the whispers of the trees.
