What I love the most is discovering hidden gems during my travels. It fills me with immense joy when I stumble upon charming villages or ancient towns. During my trip to France, I accidentally stumbled upon one such amazing place – the romantic village of Jarnioux, known for producing exquisite wines. This tiny wine haven is nestled in Burgundy – the main wine region of France. Here, I want to share with you my favorite photos from this place and some recommendations for visiting. So, here it is, the village of Jarnioux in Burgundy:

What is Burgundy?

Burgundy is France; it’s a glass of white wine, refined cheese, and romance; cozy streets and breathtaking landscapes. On the soils of Côte d’Or, the most prestigious grape varieties are grown, the homeland of intoxicating Chablis and other famous enticing beverages.

Here, the best snails are savored at the Beaujolais festival, the juiciest grapes are cultivated, and life flows steadily and unhurriedly.

Burgundy is the blessed land to the north of Lyon, it’s a calm and quiet region where people eat well, drink sweetly, and sleep deeply. There aren’t many entertainments here, but there is a quiet and unhurried way of life, the most proper on earth.

It’s a land of collectible wines, a place of beautiful parks and vineyards. And the village of Jarnioux – it’s a place of cozy yellow-brick houses, cobbled streets where you can find amazing turtles; blooming lavender whose scent spreads throughout the region, and grapes, grapes, grapes…

It’s a place where the most beautiful castles stand. It’s a place where the happiest people live. In every courtyard, rose gardens are planted, and houses are covered with ivy and delicate hydrangeas. Peeking through the fence, you can see how the French live – their lives are measured and unhurried. Every family has a cozy house, small but beautiful garden.

Strolling through the streets, sooner or later, you’ll come across a winery where you’ll be treated to the best wine. Most of all, the people of Burgundy love to grow grapes and make the most delicious wines from them, so Jarnioux is all about vineyards.

Grabbing a bottle, picking a bouquet of wildflowers, you must find a cozy spot near the Chateau – an aristocratic castle that towers over the city like a lighthouse. Its steps will be the perfect place, imbued with the spirit of the Middle Ages.

Climbing its spiral staircases, preserving the atmosphere of past centuries; taking stunning photos as a keepsake, and then drinking wine straight from the bottle – that’s the true pleasure worth experiencing here, sitting on one of the castle steps.

You sit, and before you unfolds a whole grape valley, small hills illuminated by the evening sun.

In Burgundy, the combination of ancient and modern is fashionable – it’s unusual, but undoubtedly beautiful. Expensive cars drive through the streets, but local traditions echo the past.

To better experience the province’s atmosphere, you need to go to the countryside – it’s the best way to get to know local life, fully immerse yourself, and even live a little with a local family.

The French consider Jarnioux one of the most beautiful villages. They have their criteria for assessment – the population of the town should not exceed 2000 people. But it’s strange that while we were strolling, we didn’t meet any tourists, not even locals ventured out of their homes often. It’s amazing that such beautiful places are not visited by anyone.

Village of Jarnioux in Burgundy – it’s the most romantic place of the whole trip, found by me completely by accident. And honestly, I don’t even remember how I chose this village. But undoubtedly, Jarnioux became the best gift that France gave me.

If you’re planning a trip to the Rhône-Alpes region, don’t forget to visit such charming places as the medieval town of Chambéry, the French Venice Annecy, and the ancient Vienne.
