Last night I spent time sitting in a chair with the sound of rain outside the window watching Wednesday. The best teen series ever made and you can’t argue with me. It reminded me of growing up and all the trials life throws at us when you’re between childhood and adulthood. Today I want to share my thoughts about what a teenager I was.

So… What I was like as a teenager.. Incapable of being sane in school, that’s for sure. I had a lot of trouble, which I, of course, considered “unfair”, but looking back, I really feel embarrassed that I pestered my teachers. I think most of us didn’t even see our teachers as people when we were younger. They always seemed to be a different species. Now I have teachers-friends and I understand that they were just trying to get through the day.

What a teenager I was

There are many things that I look back on fondly from my teenage years. Hang out at concerts. I used to go almost every week, now every few years. I think that because the internet is capable of so much, we forget how much fun a concert can be.

Hang out in the city. What did we do in it? Absolutely nothing. We just hung around in the doorways of the shops talking about the musical bands we liked, running around the malls like idiots. I really wonder what happened to all those kids that I idolized and thought were the coolest people in the world.

Do you remember teen magazines? Before the age of the internet, people had to write to a magazine and ask for advice. Is there even one person in the world who still does this, or is everyone just turning to Google?

I almost miss my old Nokia, which was more like a brick than a phone. Spent hours on this phone playing snake, setting ringtones and using 1000 sms credit per month. I had to ask my mother for her phone to send messages to the boys when my messages ended or just accept and wait for new month. Do you remember what ICQ is? I pray to God that one day the whole world will return to it.

I really think I would love to be 14 again. Just for a day. Just so I can feel that belly-ripping laugh for no real reason other than to annoy your teacher and hang around for hours doing nothing but just having a good time!
