House-museum of M.Yu. Lermontov.

This is where the events of Mikhail Lermontov’s work “A Hero of Our Time” took place. The Lermontov Museum consists of two small Cossack huts covered with reed roofs. In fact, these are only replicas of the former houses that were once destroyed.

Inside the house, you can find personal belongings and understand how the famous author lived. The interior of the house consists of simple items: a table, a chair, a chest, a bed, and a stove, with leather shoes hanging on the wall. These rooms are so small that you can take just a couple of steps, and you’ll be at another wall. The house stands on a steep cliff, offering a breathtaking view of the sea. And in the territory, there is a fishing boat and a well.

“Taman is the shabbiest little town of all the seaside towns in Russia… I arrived on a folding cart late at night… after wandering through dirty alleys, where on both sides, all I saw were only dilapidated fences, we approached a small hut right on the seashore.” – Mikhail Lermontov.

Lotus valley in the Akhtanizovsky Estuary: a botanical wonderland.

On the Kazachiy Erik River, there is a wonderful valley of one of the oldest and most beautiful flowers in the world. Many legends are dedicated to this flower. It is said that inhaling the fragrance of the lotus will bring wisdom, and whispering your secret wish to the bud will make it come true in no time. Akhtanizovskiy Liman is a marsh, and all excursions are conducted on a boat. Early in the morning, when the sun is just rising, these magnificent plants begin to bloom. This is the best time to contemplate the Lotus Valley. The best month is July when the entire Akhtanizovskiy Liman is covered with amazing Indian flowers that are impossible to look away from, as at other times, you will only see green buds.

Visitors can take a boat tour to navigate through the vast expanse of lotus flowers, creating an Instagram-worthy panorama. The tranquil surroundings and the sweet fragrance of the lotus blossoms make this a must-see destination for nature lovers.

Ostrich farm in Peresyp.

Between Peresyp and the village of Za Rodinu, you can find an ostrich farm. Here, shy African ostriches live, and when frightened, they can strike with their head or leg. If you visit, you will witness unusual ostrich dances and see them bathing. The ostrich is a very interesting bird but unfortunately with a lively temperament. For this reason, many ostriches are kept in a closed enclosure with no entrance for visitors.

The farm offers guided tours where you can learn about ostrich behavior, witness feeding sessions, and even have the chance to feed these giant birds yourself. The picturesque setting of the farm, with its rustic charm and delightful ostrich inhabitants, makes it an ideal spot for memorable photos and Instagram stories.

It’s also a home for raccoons, peacocks, snakes, and dwarf chickens. The farm is located near the Za Rodinu settlement, close to Morskaya Street.

Tizdar Volcano.

The volcano can be found near the Za Rodinu settlement, and it is also known by the second name – “Siniy Balka” (Blue Gully). In 1919, the eruption of Tizdar occurred, after which it lost its cone and simply turned into a lake with mud. But it remains active. These muds contain iodine and bromine, which are very important for health. The mud in the bath is very warm due to the heating by the earth’s depths, and it is impossible to sink in it due to its high density.

How to get to Temryuk.

For travelers seeking to explore Temryuk, the nearest major city is Krasnodar, which is well-connected by air, rail, and road. From Krasnodar, it’s a scenic drive to Temryuk, with the journey offering glimpses of the beautiful countryside. Alternatively, there are also buses and trains available for those who prefer public transportation.

I highly recommend traveling by car as it is the most convenient and direct option. If you don’t have a car, you can rent one at very reasonable prices here.

Be sure to inspect the car for scratches or damage that are noted in the contract before leaving the parking lot, and return to the office to let the manager know what you think is not mentioned.

Check Aviasales to find the cheapest flights to Krasnodar if you’re traveling from another country.
