I know that the New Year spirit is a fickle thing and it doesn’t come at the snap of your fingers. Sometimes it seems like everyone on the planet has already entered into the pre-New Year hustle and bustle, buying gifts, filming New Year videos, while you feel like you’re still stuck in the outskirts of autumn. Despite this, there are ways to stir it up. Today, I want to talk about where to find the New Year spirit.
Decorate the Christmas tree – this is the very first thing you should do. Where would we be without it? New Year’s isn’t New Year’s without it. Put it up, decorate it with old ornaments from your family collection. Or you can also buy new ones or completely change the style of the tree. If you had a green one, maybe it’s worth trying a white or pink one? Choose ornaments to match.
Decorate your space – your home also needs to be beautified. Hang garlands under the shelves, snowflakes on the windows, lay out pine cones and branches. If you live in your own house, decorate the yard. Perhaps you can put up a few more decorated trees there.
Get New Year’s outfits – and not just for New Year’s Eve. Look for knitted sweaters with reindeers, scarves with winter patterns, cute hats, and mittens.
New Year’s movies – nothing boosts the New Year spirit as much as watching Christmas movies. From New Year classics like Home Alone to something new and unusual like Bad Santa or The Hateful Eight. You might also find my list of classic Christmas books to help. It will be ideal for winter evenings.
Aromatic food – indulge in tangerines, sandwiches with red caviar, gingerbread cookies, Raffaello candies. Look for anything related to the New Year theme.
Gifts for loved ones – find special beautiful wrapping paper and pack them neatly. Imagine how your gifts will lie under the Christmas tree and how happy the person you give them to will be.
You can do all the items on this list, but doing just one or two is enough to make your New Year’s mood definitely improve. With this checklist, life will become a little easier and more realistic.
