I understand that not everyone has the opportunity to live in their own house surrounded by a garden or forest, and many of us live among concrete buildings in the busiest cities in the world. So, if you can’t instantly find yourself in rural or woodland areas, I want to share some simple ways to get closer to nature here.
Get outside more often – even in large metropolises, there are beautiful parks, and there are usually plenty of them. There are also many green spaces – stroll along the alleys or among blooming lilac bushes.
Explore your surroundings – you can observe the nature around you. Learn about medicinal herbs, mushrooms, and berries. Watch the animals, birds, and insects that come to you. It’s not only interesting but also can be useful in the future.
Look at the sky at night – the night sky is full of wonders. And how many stars, nebulae, and constellations are there! If possible, get a telescope. But even without it, you can enjoy the night sky when it gets dark. It’s mesmerizing. Just think, you can feel a connection with nature without leaving your room.
Make time to get out of the city – try to get out of town once a week. Take your friends, tents, board games, and have a picnic.
Use the gifts of nature – fully immerse yourself in nature. Make wine from dandelions, make lemonades from lavender, gather mushrooms in the autumn and bake them with potatoes. Release butterflies and moths that have flown in, dry flowers and make herbariums out of them.
Create a garden on your windowsill – don’t have space to build a garden around your house? No problem! You can create your own little garden right on the windowsill. Get beautiful pots, planters. Hang them on shelves throughout your home. Your windowsill and your apartment can be very green. You also have a chance to grow mandarins by New Year’s or pumpkins by Samhain.
Revive a tree branch – carefully cut a few branches and put them in water. When they root, consider half the work done. Now you just need to change the water and watch for new buds. And then, when the branch grows too big, transplant it into the ground.

Use plants in your creativity – it will give them almost eternal life. You can create bookmarks for books from pressed flowers, decorations from epoxy resin with live flowers, and cones or acorns can be part of dream catchers or beautiful garlands.
Treat all living things with care – take only what you need. Don’t pick berries and apples in bulk if you’re not sure you’ll eat them. Don’t pick extra flowers and herbs just to throw them away in a minute.
Look for items with natural attributes – your image and your home can become very cute when there are pillows with foxes and bears on the couches, and maple leaf earrings dangle in your ears.
Feel and absorb – literally breathe in nature. Inhale the smells outside, touch the rough bark of a tree, bury your fingers in the sand, walk barefoot on the grass, touch the stream, and listen to the birds sing.
