Dubai is simply an amazing city. Skyscrapers taller than the clouds, an oasis in the middle of the desert, incredibly beautiful hotels, and islands emerging from the sea. Everything here is stunning: every district, every corner. Dubai is truly a city worth visiting at least once in a lifetime. In just a few days, I was able to see many interesting things, exploring both ultra-modern and historic districts of the city. I loved absolutely everything, but what left the most lasting impression was the most luxurious district Dubai Marina.
Being in Dubai and not visiting the Marina is nonsense. This place should be on everyone’s must-do list when planning a trip to the Emirates, and today I will share recommendations on what to do in Dubai Marina.
What is Dubai Marina?
Dubai Marina is the most luxurious district in the city, where skyscrapers rise from the ground like a dense forest, and the measure of a luxurious life is not a fancy car, but a yacht. At the beginning of the 21st century, construction of skyscrapers began here, a tram line was laid, the Marina Mall was built, and a couple of metro stations were added in different parts of the district – “Dubai Marina” and “Jumeirah Lake Towers.” Construction is still ongoing, and alongside luxurious cars, yachts, Pakistanis in red masks are eating sandwiches on the bricks.
Upon completion of construction, there will be more than 200 skyscrapers here, including ones over 300 meters tall, such as the Princess Tower, the Cayan Tower, and others. A 4-kilometer water canal runs through the Marina, and a yacht club has also settled here. Dubai is an impressive city, and its architecture astonishes with its futuristic approach and creativity.
Wealthy citizens live here, including many Russians. The Marina is considered the most cosmopolitan district in Dubai. On the streets, you can meet Americans, Europeans, and Asians. Each of them brings a piece of their culture, creating an amazing blend of traditions and religions.
How to see the luxurious Dubai Marina District from above?
Lifehack: If you don’t want to spend money to see Dubai from the Burj Khalifa, but still want to see the city from above, head to one of the skyscrapers in Dubai Marina, look for the Marriott Hotel. Take the luxurious elevator to the top floor, then go down one level, where you’ll find a restaurant with a 360-degree view.
Here you can admire the Marina from above: the yacht club, the green waters of the canal, a piece of the Palm Island, and the skyscrapers, like stone statues, rising from the ground.
Come to the Marina for the whole day and make sure to stay until sunset. In the evening, the district transforms. The evening luxurious Dubai Marina District can be compared to a girl getting ready for a party: lights come on in the windows, silhouettes of boats are reflected in the water. People laugh and relax. Everything invites you to unwind.
If you are planning to visit the Emirates, I have a list of the most beautiful places that I highly recommend you visit! There are magical gardens that are able to bloom in such wild heat, there are stunning hotels with amazing oceanariums, old city neighborhoods and so much more. This post will help you plan an incredible trip that will be memorable.
Things to do in Dubai Marina.
- Rent a yacht and go for a walk to the Palm Islands.
- Enjoy Eastern delicacies in one of the Marina’s restaurants.
- Book a room in a skyscraper and watch the sunrise with a stunning view of the city – a guarantee of a great mood for at least a week.
- Spend time at Marina Beach. The free beach is located 15 kilometers from the city. You can get there by bus or taxi. The area has 3 pools, a tennis court, a gym, and bars.
How to get to Dubai Marina.
Here’s how you can get there:
By Metro: The Dubai Metro is a convenient and efficient way to reach Dubai Marina. Simply hop on the Red Line and get off at either the “DAMAC Properties” or “Dubai Marina” station. From there, you can take a short walk to the marina itself. The metro is clean, air-conditioned, and offers a great view of the city as you travel.
By Taxi: Taxis are readily available throughout Dubai and are a convenient option for reaching Dubai Marina. You can hail a taxi on the street or use ride-hailing apps like Uber and Careem. The fares are reasonable, and taxis are metered, so you don’t have to worry about bargaining.
By Tram: Dubai Tram is another excellent option for getting to Dubai Marina. It connects to the Dubai Metro at the “DAMAC Properties” and “Jumeirah Lakes Towers” stations. The tram runs through Dubai Marina, making several stops, so you can get off at the one closest to your destination. The Nol Card is a smart card used for all public transportation in Dubai, including the metro, tram, and buses. Make sure to get one and top it up as needed. It’s a convenient and cost-effective way to travel around the city.
By Car: Dubai Marina is easily accessible via Sheikh Zayed Road (E11). There are several parking facilities available in and around the marina. However, traffic can be heavy, especially during peak hours, so plan accordingly.
I highly recommend driving around Dubai on your own transport, as this is one of those cities where it’s easiest to get around by car! Moreover, many of the attractions are quite far from each other. Don’t have your own car? Why not rent one for a day or two? You can check prices and availability of cars here.
